Have you watched the news on the television lately? Most of it seems to be entertainment. It is not news - if you add in the criteria of being noteworthy. For example, is it really noteworthy that a masseuse says an actor offered to give the masseuse a massage? It it really noteworthy that the Duchess of Cambridge wears Jimmy Choo shoes valued at $700+?
What should the news encompass? News! If there are any wars or skirmishes, how the troops are getting by, if there are droughts or floods, if food will be in abundance or shortage, laws that are being passed, fluctuations in commodities, utilities and so on, things like that.
That other "stuff" about actors, royalty, politicians......well, that's gossip, that's unnecessary fluff to entertain us all during the news. If it isn't entertaining, many of us won't turn on the news because of the depressing drudgery of its details.
If you pick up a newspaper or listen to news on the radio, you stand a better shot at finding actual news - I think largely because of the limited space and airtime.
Can you, dear readers, tell that I am fed up with fake news? Rather goes along with fake politicians we have these days. Keep it entertaining, make promises that won't be kept (which will yield more fake news on down the road), have pretty smiles and lack concrete plans and information.
Yes, indeed, I am fed up with the fake news and fake politicians. I'm not seeing one viable candidate for a certain national office right now in either major party. At least they will make the news.
