Education is key in this world. Here is the current Bill in PA legislature, headed to the Senate: https://www.legis.state.pa.us/cf…/billInfo/bill_history.cfm…
I share the above based on a 'debate' on one social media app that 'discussed' the views of motorcyclists blocking roadways so that a large group could pass through an intersection together.  One side viewed the bikers as having 'blown through the stop sign' while others believed the motorcyclists were keeping an escorted charity ride together as a group.  I re-shared their discourse (after having been re-shared by others) with the following commentary:
Having ridden in motorcycle funeral escorts with the Patriot Guard Riders and others, I am praying this bill passes soon and is signed into law. There is no greater honor than to ride for the fallen, be asked to ride for the fallen, or ride in remembrance of the fallen. I've ridden in rides for charity causes and it's important to keep the group together for safety as well as the visual statement that we are out riding for a cause -- for example, raising money for a Relay for Life team. I've been blessed to ride with my hubby at all these things, from VVnW Post 52's Ride for Freedom on National POW/MIA weekend in September annually, keeping the memory of our Prisoners of War/Missing in Action alive to Rolling Thunder in Washington DC every Memorial Day (largest attendance of bikes was pushing 1million if memory serves correctly). Things like Rolling Thunder aren't joyrides - we ride to make a mighty thunder, to be the voices of those whose voices can no longer be heard on their own: our Prisoners of War, our Missing in Action. We must never forget them, nor dare we allow our government bodies to forget them. They fought for freedom, served when their country called, and now it is our duty to remember them. My hubby and I take our riding very seriously. Look at the backs of our vests and you will see this for yourselves -- His says, "Christ Died for Me -- I Ride for Them - POW/MIA" My vest has a patch with hands together, open, supporting the head of a bald eagle, with the words, "I Remember."
Even when we may take the bike for a quick grocery run, or an evening ice cream run, we remember those for whom we ride. Our fully dressed older Harley carries the POW/MIA logo on the batwing; we have a derby cover with the 3 crosses from Calvary; our license plate frame says, "POW/MIA Never Forgotten;" and an Armor of God emblem graces the points cover. We are usually flying a small American flag on the back; sometimes we add other flags: the POW/MIA flag, the USMC flag, or the flag of a specific event.
Never leave someone behind. That is the underlying theme in riding, even if it isn't said. If we spot a stranded biker along the roadway, we check to make sure they're okay and that help is on the way. How often do we see cages/4-wheelers (a.k.a. cars, trucks, and SUVs) do that in this day and age?
Bikers for Justice is another awesome group to which I belong and which I support, serving as a District Rep. Bikers really do care about mankind, children, the elderly, those who are bullied, those are dealt injustice. We may ride to show support to a grade-schooler who has been bullied so that she knows she's not alone in this world and that someone has her back. You may find us participating in political rallies, speaking up for the rights of motorcyclists or others.
We do not appreciate anyone profiling us as a bunch of bad biker gangs; nor do we appreciate disrespect of those we try to honor and for whom we strive to provide dignity.
Sure, there are some jerks out there, but every fragment of society has those -- from Harvard grads in fancy legal offices to the guys who pick up your trash every week. No sector of society is without its share of bozos and tis very wrong to stereotype an entire sector based on the observations of a few.
Educate yourself before passing judgement on any one person or group. Only God is omniscient; therefore, only He can judge without further research.
{stepping down off my soapbox} Thank you and good day.

Donald Trump

Donald Trump.

For some his name evokes shudders of disdain. They are afraid of this man, a man who is not a career politician, a man who cannot be bought, a man who will not play the 'old boy's club' of games. They are afraid he will bring back Capitalism, destroying their long-term vision of Progressivism moving into Socialism into Dictatorship. They are afraid that decades of planning will fall apart if this man who believes in freedom is elected President of the United States.

For others, their eyes light up at the mere mention of his last name. If their ears could perk up like a puppy dog's ears, they would do that too. These folks have been longing for someone to save their dying country, a beloved country for which men and women fought, bled, and died. A country wherein people are guaranteed the right to worship as they please, are guaranteed the right to bear arms without restriction, are guaranteed the right to vote and marry regardless of race or religion. They love this country with every breath they take. They love the people in this country. They support those who fight for America and democracy at home and abroad. They believe in strong care for our veterans, senior citizens, and disabled. These people believe in the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Donald Trump understands the burning desire of the second group described above. Together with these people, he understands that we are granted the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Note, we are not guaranteed happiness, but rather the pursuit thereof. Donald Trump may have many many more dollars than both the people who follow and who disrespect him, but he has something massively in common with his supporters: he has WORKED to be where he is – he has worked for his fame and fortune. Surely each and every one of us has made mistakes in our lives, be they financial, relationship, or material. Guess what? So has Mr. Trump – and he has learned from those mistakes and kept moving forward, one foot in front of the other.

Mr. Trump believes in the American people, the American worker, the American family (and I'm not going to play semantics here – the American family has morphed many times over the years), American patriotism, the American military & veterans, and the future for all American children. One merely needs to listen to him in person (not a chopped up clip on the news or internet), his entire sentences, discussions, and speeches over the years to know his core person and his love for this country have not wavered. His views have not shifted in dramatic ways. He has held steady to his beliefs.

If you have the internet, I encourage you to visit Mr. Trump's website and read his actual positions on topics such as childcare, education, foreign policy, tax plan, veterans affairs reform, the economy, and more. You can find them at this link https://www.donaldjtrump.com/policies/ . Listen in earnest with an open mind to Mr. Trump's ideas, please don't listen to falsehoods promoted by those who are afraid to embrace the challenge of pursuing happiness. I have heard him speak in person and witnessed the media change his words from what I heard to some other meaning.

Now, I would 'love' to share history of the other candidate for President of the United States; however, at this time, you know in your heart the truth about the other candidate. My goal is simple: share the truth with you about the candidate Donald J. Trump. He has the ability to reach within himself and within our country and Make America Great Again.

I am an educated woman and I am voting for Donald Trump for President of the United States of America. I hope you will too.

Lamb or Lion

3/1/2014

Do you dread March, the ides of March, the possibility that spring may not arrive on its appointed date in March?
The old thought of March arriving like a lamb meant that it would end like a lion.  Likewise, if arrives like a lion, it will exit like a lamb.
Wouldn't you rather have it arrive like a lion and leave like a lamb in the freshness of spring and all that is reborn?
Today is a mystery.  Calm weather, warmer temps in my locale, clear roadways, and an approaching winter storm named Titan.  Titan.

(The following  definition courtesy of http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary)
ti·tan noun \ˈtī-tən\ Titan : one of a family of giants in Greek mythology
: an extremely large and powerful person, company, etc.
Full Definition of TITAN1 capitalized :  any of a family of giants in Greek mythology born of Uranus and Gaea and ruling the earth until overthrown by the Olympian gods 2 :  one that is gigantic in size or power :  one that stands out for greatness of achievement

Titan is on its way to parts of the USA.  Frightened of this giant?  Nope.  Not this chic.  Storms happen.  Life happens.  It goes on.  Weather occurs.  We deal with it.  If you're used to weather changes, you're prepared.  If you live in a utopian climate-controlled bubble somewhere, then this storm might frighten you.  Good luck.

What I'm wondering, since Titan was predicted to arrive tonight, the evening of March 1st, does that mean March is entering like a giant lion and the end of the month will have sweet innocent lamb-like weather?
Where does one draw the line on time-held hearsay of weather predictions?  Most of today has been calm.  What if Titan waits to arrive until March 2nd?  Does that count as the beginning of the month?

What does all this matter?  Lions.  Lambs.  Titans.  Giants.  Weather.
Life happens with or without lion/lamb-like weather.  Life goes on.

Big things happen.  Small things happen.  Do we take stock of the big and the little things in life?  The rescue of your neighbor's when their house caught fire?  The whisper in your ear of your child's  scary nightmare with arms tight around your neck?  The first spring flower you spot by your door or along the highway on your way to work?  The reality of the store being sold out of toilet paper and milk/water just before a big storm hits?

Are you prepared for the storms?  Are you prepared for the renewed sensation of good days?  Are you prepared for changes in your life?  Are you ready for children in your family?  Are you ready for divorce?  Are you battening hatches against political oppression?  Are you stocking up for a lack of electricity and heat?  Are ready to grow up and get a job?  Are you ready to say 'good-bye' to your parents, a child, a grandchild?

Are you, are any of us ever ready for big storms and small changes?  We try to be.  We think we are.
In reality, no one human person is ever ready for such changes.  We can prepare.  We can stock up.  We can think it through.  Truly, though, the day of change arrives and we want one more second of sunshine, one more breath, one more second being single, another year of school, and so on.

The only thing that makes us ready is stepping into the moment.  We face that moment and rise to the occasion.  Perhaps we do not succeed as we thought we would,  or perhaps we second-guess our preparations, our words, our decisions.
Either way, the moment arrives like a winter storm, at a given moment in time that we cannot change.  It is up to each of us to weather the storm, to adapt, to become who we are meant to be.

Lion or lamb?  Which will you be?  A giant, prepared and strong, or a lamb,
gentle and adapting?

Didn't know you could be likened to a winter storm, did you?  Your life compared to the seasons?  Oh sure, we've all heard about May-December romances and the winter of our lives when we get 'old,' but from my humble perspective, our lives mirror the weather, the climate, the change of seasons.  Do we mature, do we wither?  Do we blossom?  Do we allow ourselves to create fruitful lives?

We make choices everyday.  The weather happens.  Do we live as the weather, just letting life happen or do we utilize our ability to make changes in our personal weather patterns?

Do we allow ourselves to walk as thunderclouds, scaring those around us or do we walk in the light, spreading the seeds of good will to strangers as well as those we hold dear.

Our personal weather patterns are up to us.  Titan-like lions or Lamb-like souls......or lambs who know when to growl like lions?  Are you a giant of person?  The choice is yours.  Human life is short and fragile.  Make the best of it.  Shout your love like a lion and swallow your anger like a lamb.  Choose wisely.  You won't get a do-over on those final good-byes.

2013

Let's see.........15 days into this 'new' year.  Have you broken those resolutions yet?

I haven't broken a single resolution!  Yes, I am bragging!  It's been soooo easy!  Why, you may ask?  I didn't make any resolutions!!  Don't make 'em, ya can't break 'em!

Instead of the annual fuss over resolution, I truly want to just work on being a better person, every day, every year.  Some years I do better than others.  Some years I fail horribly.

I don't need the stress of imposing my own 'laws' on myself.  Our society does enough of that.   The media screams that we should be thin, that we should never offend (even if we disagree with others), that we should drive new fancy cars, that we should buy the latest technological gadgets, that we should recycle (yet throw out the tarnished in favor of new and shiny).

All these things make me wonder about our aging population, growing in size due to the retiring Baby Boomer generation.  I read in the news about the 45-year old twins in Europe who were recently euthanized because they were already deaf and potentially going blind; they felt they could not be useful?  What is the matter with this world?

Why do we no longer value life?  Our country seems to protect the right to kill the unborn child, yet we don't put guards at our schools to protect our living children.   When will our elderly become truly disposable commodities?  With the introduction of the new healthcare system, the day is not far away I fear.

People are not inanimate items to be discarded or recycled.  We have life, we have value beyond measure.  We don't need resolutions, we need to have self-esteem.  Value ourselves, value each other.

Babies, Children, Grown-ups

3/20/2012

Babies:  Those tiny little creatures we love to coo to, love to hold and snuggle, love to spoil.
Children:  The inbetween baby and grown-up stages of same creatures.  They have learned to say "no," to sass, to think.
Grown-ups:  The enlarged version of children - many times portraying themselves a mature, but, in reality, still behaving as children who have not learned all they should have during their formative years.

Wherefrom do babies come?  The stork?  Under a cabbage leaf in the garden?  From Mama's tummy?  How in the heck did Mama get a baby inside her?  Does she eat children?  How did Daddy put a baby in Mama's tummy?
There's a lot to be said about babies and where they come from, isn't there?
And then there are those who want to argue about when life actually begins.  I've seen a couple picture on Facebook recently of fetuses (the technical term for the unborn baby) at 12 weeks gestation held in the palm of someone's hand.  Sure look like babies to me.
About Day 21 in the embryo/fetus' development the heart is beating.  Organs, details etc have been developing from the moment of conception.  The brain is is devloping.  And yet, people say this tiny creature is not alive.  Hmmm.....Must one be able to survive outside the womb to be considered a living organism?  What about anaerobic infections that survive without air?  They get treated with special classes of antiobiotics to KILL THEM.  So, if you think about it, other things are alive inside the human body and we kill them off.  Having the protective shell of the human does not mean you do not have life.

Now, I know there are horrific situations that yield pregnancy.  Horrific:  rape, incest, abuse.  Drug-induced stupidity.  Oh wait, that doesn't count.  Getting high, getting laid, and getting pregnant doesn't count as horrific.  That just counts as not thinking.
I'm talking about horrific:  violent acts, sinister acts which end in pregnancy.

Thankfully, I have not been a victim of rape or incest yielding pregnancy.

I am a woman.  And, I can tell you, being female, I wouldn't want someone incapable of pregnancy (i.e., a man) telling me what I could do after becoming a victim of violence.  Hopefully, I could carry that child to term and let it go to a family which would not have that victimized predjudice towards that young being.  BUT, I don't know how I would feel.  I have not walked in those shoes.
I was the victim of a stalker who went to jail for a short time -- technically harrassment charges because of his mental challenges and intent is hard to prove in Pennsylvania.  I do know I lived in constant fear, sheer terror, lost weight, couldn't sleep, changed my entire life to keep him away from me.  I was terrified of any reminder of him for a very long time.  I cannot fathom if he had raped me and impregnated me, what my thoughts would have been.

I can honestly say I am Pro-Life, for all ages, all creatures.  I also know that sometimes horrific choices have to be made when it comes to life.  A military leader has to make the choice to send soldiers into combat facing possible and likely death.  Insects must be eliminated if humans are to have food to eat.  That said, if that unborn child would have an horrific life by being born, is the more Christian thing to let it go early?  I believe that is between the mother, the baby, whoever assists in the abortion, and God.  God will welcome the murdered child.  The woman will have to live with her choice for the rest of her life, wondering what would have become of that child had she let it live.  The "doctor" (sworn to protect and preserve life) must live with the failure to his oath.   And, in the end God will judge each one, there's no getting around that.  Judgement day will come.  Not by fellow man, but by God alone.

If I were to run for public office, some migth say that I cannot be on both sides of the fence.  I tell you I can.  As a stepmother who would have loved to have given birth to a child or children, but never knew how much I could love children I did not bear until I became that stepmother and would give my life to protect them.  I believe in adoption and step-parenting.  I believe in loving children.

I believe that when there is violence no man or woman can rule over the mother and baby as they ponder the baby's existence.  I believe there should be a support network to help the mama weigh the options.  Sadly, in today's global world, those networks have fallen aside in lieu of those who try to pretend there simply is no life until birth.

So, there you have it.  A tough topic no matter the day.  Just had to say something.  No doubt, I will revisit this subject again.
My prayers to all who miss a child this day.
