13 lives have been lost including a shooter, whose mind we cannot begin to understand.
12 others, approximately, have been injured.
Countless others affected in someway by today's events: rescuers, bystanders, almost-victims, families, school children, officers, military, fellow citizens.
What does one say?
Bittersweet in that more weren't lost, yet even one was too many.
What must it be like for families of victims? What must it be like for families of someone like today's shooter(s)?
Some days there are no words.
Today is one of those days.
Actions speak loudest today: a shooter's gun, a rescuing helicopter's thumps in the air, someone slamming a door shut providing shelter, hugging a safe family member, smiling a polite thank-you for a door held in kindness.
Act. Don't speak.
