What do you think about rain? Do you want to curl up with a good book, or go dance in it? Do you get gloomy or rejoice? Does it spoil plans or lend an air of mystery?
Whatever your rainy thoughts, rain is essential to our existence. We, our planet, and other living things need water. Rain is one of the easiest ways to have that water handed to us. Cities charge us for water. I have a problem with that. That is one of our planetary-given rights. Just really seems ridiculous. Surprised someone hasn't started charging us for the air we breathe..... (Maybe I shouldn't give our over-bearing government entities any more insane ideas.)
It's a rainy day here. Mowed the lawn three days ago I think and the very next day it started to rain! So, my grass will grow....this time of year in North America the lawns grow quickly. You can almost see it growing, and there are times when I could almost swear I hear it stretching upwards. Almost like the lawn has a sense of humor!
If we didn't have that rain, I wouldn't have to spend so much on fuel for the lawn tractor and I could spend that money in other sectors of the struggling economy; however, if we don't get that rain, the lawn will dry and become brown.....the garden vegetables will fail to sprout and mature and my driveway will yield dry dust when crossed. (for those of you in the big cities, yes, some of us actually have dirt and/or gravel driveways).
Rain, water, oceans, rivers, creeks, streams, ponds, lakes.......underground wells........all sources of water....ALL needed for our very existence. The human body itself is made up of up to 60% water. Can you imagine if we don't keep stocked up on that substance? No wonder the medical / health folks tell us to drink lots of water every day!
Water. Rain. Waterfalls. Soothing in so many ways. The nourishment, the visual, the sound. I encourage you to step outside (unless it's a dangerous storm), breathe in deeply and smell the cleanness of the air during and after a rain. Maybe, just maybe learn to dance in the rain. Look upward and let the rain drizzle across your brow and down over your nose, slipping between your lips and down your neck til you shiver. Be grateful for this moment, for life........and Dance in the Rain.
