2022, Round Three or a Fresh Start?

1/10/2022

Greetings, Dear Readers!
Long time, no write.  My apologies for that.
I must confess.  I have felt pulled in far too many directions between my 'day job' of almost 32 years, my modeling, my Avon and DōTerra, my volunteer work, and my family for far too long.   A couple of my relatives have said that I need to cut back, especially since my fibromyalgia diagnosis some years ago.  When I broke a hip in 2018, the world would have gone on, but I kept trying to do the bare minimum of everything, eventually returning to full-tilt trying to do it all.
Then, 2020 and the pandemic arrived.
The world shut down.  Sort of.  Kind of.  Well not really.  I will be forever amazed at the businesses that were classified as essential.  Reminds me of when my late mum would ask me if I really needed a particular toy, or if I just wanted the toy.
Some countries shut down.  Others sort of shut down.  All made their best efforts in their own ways with the information they had on hand at the time.
Here in the USA, I was requested to stay home in the beginning because of my lifelong asthmatic lungs.  This was days after we'd joked about those hoarding toilet paper.  All of a sudden, I was one of millions.  At home.  An unknown tick on the list of statistics for an entire globe.  Wow.
I couldn't sit around and I truly deplore housework (dusting makes me sneeze anyway).  On a lark, I signed up for an online writing course, deeply discounted because of the pandemic.  I loved it (the writing course, not the pandemic)!
Childhood dreams of becoming a writer filled my middle-aged noggin.  An opportunity appeared on my social media news feed -- a dear friend, a writer herself, made invitation for a collaborative book.  I said, "YES!"  The adventure was truly underway.
I returned to my day job after a couple months with all of humanity trying to social distance, wear masks, and not catch any covid germs.  That winter I heard of no one having a cold or the flu.  Seriously?  (But that's a topic for another day.)
Through the end of 2020 and into the year of 2021, I kept writing, and going to work, and writing.  By the end of 2021, I am proud to say I've been published in four (4) collaborative books!!  I've been blessed to have 3 articles published in a global magazine, published out of England!   And, I'm now an official 'calendar girl'!  My month is April in a digital 2022 calendar with 365 days of tips!  (Link on LINKS page also,)
(I'll post a link to all 4 books on the LINKS page of this site.)
Staffing changes at my day job caused me to look at my life and my long-term goals.  I have worked in that office for almost 32 years with one of my dearest friends.  I have made new friends there, in our small office, over the decades, and I have seen some leave for amazing opportunities and/or retirement.  Deep in my soul, I think I believed I would work in that office until the owner retired someday, that I would be there until the very end.
As I watched changes in the world around me, in our very commonwealth/state, and in our little town, I realized it was time for me to leave and cut a new path for myself.  I wish my colleagues nothing but the very best, but my time to exit had arrived.  So, in October, I had 'the talk' with my friend and she couldn't have been more supportive!  I said I would be available until year-end if she needed my help in transition.
I got sick Christmas weekend in 2o21 (3 covid tests, all Negative thankfully) and didn't get the last of 'my things' sorted before year-end.  Being the good person she is, I let my 'boss lady' know and I will be in one more day in the near future, just to tidy up my leftovers.
I am blessed abundantly with the 32 years, having watched the business grow to the point of relocating to our own building.  I am blessed for the invaluable continuing education, professional associations, friends made, work experience, new technologies learned, and so much more.
With the advent of 2022, there are new projects in the works!  New books, new articles, volunteer work, and more time with my beloved husband.
Did I mention my husband retired almost 10 years ago at the behest of his medical professionals?  Agent Orange continues to slowly beat up all our Vietnam Veterans, and now is the time for me to work more for myself and my family.
I hear people and see memes in social media that say, "God, why didn't you give me a sign?"  That questions is usually posed After the questioner has missed a big opportunity.  Seeing the changes over the past years of global pandemic, I am confident that I saw the sign.
The sign is telling me to go, to write, not to be silent, to share words of wit, words of God, words of humanity, words of creativity.  I shall do my very best.  I shall write.  I pray I write the right words that others need to read.
Join me on this new journey.

Education is key in this world. Here is the current Bill in PA legislature, headed to the Senate: https://www.legis.state.pa.us/cf…/billInfo/bill_history.cfm…
I share the above based on a 'debate' on one social media app that 'discussed' the views of motorcyclists blocking roadways so that a large group could pass through an intersection together.  One side viewed the bikers as having 'blown through the stop sign' while others believed the motorcyclists were keeping an escorted charity ride together as a group.  I re-shared their discourse (after having been re-shared by others) with the following commentary:
Having ridden in motorcycle funeral escorts with the Patriot Guard Riders and others, I am praying this bill passes soon and is signed into law. There is no greater honor than to ride for the fallen, be asked to ride for the fallen, or ride in remembrance of the fallen. I've ridden in rides for charity causes and it's important to keep the group together for safety as well as the visual statement that we are out riding for a cause -- for example, raising money for a Relay for Life team. I've been blessed to ride with my hubby at all these things, from VVnW Post 52's Ride for Freedom on National POW/MIA weekend in September annually, keeping the memory of our Prisoners of War/Missing in Action alive to Rolling Thunder in Washington DC every Memorial Day (largest attendance of bikes was pushing 1million if memory serves correctly). Things like Rolling Thunder aren't joyrides - we ride to make a mighty thunder, to be the voices of those whose voices can no longer be heard on their own: our Prisoners of War, our Missing in Action. We must never forget them, nor dare we allow our government bodies to forget them. They fought for freedom, served when their country called, and now it is our duty to remember them. My hubby and I take our riding very seriously. Look at the backs of our vests and you will see this for yourselves -- His says, "Christ Died for Me -- I Ride for Them - POW/MIA" My vest has a patch with hands together, open, supporting the head of a bald eagle, with the words, "I Remember."
Even when we may take the bike for a quick grocery run, or an evening ice cream run, we remember those for whom we ride. Our fully dressed older Harley carries the POW/MIA logo on the batwing; we have a derby cover with the 3 crosses from Calvary; our license plate frame says, "POW/MIA Never Forgotten;" and an Armor of God emblem graces the points cover. We are usually flying a small American flag on the back; sometimes we add other flags: the POW/MIA flag, the USMC flag, or the flag of a specific event.
Never leave someone behind. That is the underlying theme in riding, even if it isn't said. If we spot a stranded biker along the roadway, we check to make sure they're okay and that help is on the way. How often do we see cages/4-wheelers (a.k.a. cars, trucks, and SUVs) do that in this day and age?
Bikers for Justice is another awesome group to which I belong and which I support, serving as a District Rep. Bikers really do care about mankind, children, the elderly, those who are bullied, those are dealt injustice. We may ride to show support to a grade-schooler who has been bullied so that she knows she's not alone in this world and that someone has her back. You may find us participating in political rallies, speaking up for the rights of motorcyclists or others.
We do not appreciate anyone profiling us as a bunch of bad biker gangs; nor do we appreciate disrespect of those we try to honor and for whom we strive to provide dignity.
Sure, there are some jerks out there, but every fragment of society has those -- from Harvard grads in fancy legal offices to the guys who pick up your trash every week. No sector of society is without its share of bozos and tis very wrong to stereotype an entire sector based on the observations of a few.
Educate yourself before passing judgement on any one person or group. Only God is omniscient; therefore, only He can judge without further research.
{stepping down off my soapbox} Thank you and good day.

Donald Trump

Donald Trump.

For some his name evokes shudders of disdain. They are afraid of this man, a man who is not a career politician, a man who cannot be bought, a man who will not play the 'old boy's club' of games. They are afraid he will bring back Capitalism, destroying their long-term vision of Progressivism moving into Socialism into Dictatorship. They are afraid that decades of planning will fall apart if this man who believes in freedom is elected President of the United States.

For others, their eyes light up at the mere mention of his last name. If their ears could perk up like a puppy dog's ears, they would do that too. These folks have been longing for someone to save their dying country, a beloved country for which men and women fought, bled, and died. A country wherein people are guaranteed the right to worship as they please, are guaranteed the right to bear arms without restriction, are guaranteed the right to vote and marry regardless of race or religion. They love this country with every breath they take. They love the people in this country. They support those who fight for America and democracy at home and abroad. They believe in strong care for our veterans, senior citizens, and disabled. These people believe in the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Donald Trump understands the burning desire of the second group described above. Together with these people, he understands that we are granted the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Note, we are not guaranteed happiness, but rather the pursuit thereof. Donald Trump may have many many more dollars than both the people who follow and who disrespect him, but he has something massively in common with his supporters: he has WORKED to be where he is – he has worked for his fame and fortune. Surely each and every one of us has made mistakes in our lives, be they financial, relationship, or material. Guess what? So has Mr. Trump – and he has learned from those mistakes and kept moving forward, one foot in front of the other.

Mr. Trump believes in the American people, the American worker, the American family (and I'm not going to play semantics here – the American family has morphed many times over the years), American patriotism, the American military & veterans, and the future for all American children. One merely needs to listen to him in person (not a chopped up clip on the news or internet), his entire sentences, discussions, and speeches over the years to know his core person and his love for this country have not wavered. His views have not shifted in dramatic ways. He has held steady to his beliefs.

If you have the internet, I encourage you to visit Mr. Trump's website and read his actual positions on topics such as childcare, education, foreign policy, tax plan, veterans affairs reform, the economy, and more. You can find them at this link https://www.donaldjtrump.com/policies/ . Listen in earnest with an open mind to Mr. Trump's ideas, please don't listen to falsehoods promoted by those who are afraid to embrace the challenge of pursuing happiness. I have heard him speak in person and witnessed the media change his words from what I heard to some other meaning.

Now, I would 'love' to share history of the other candidate for President of the United States; however, at this time, you know in your heart the truth about the other candidate. My goal is simple: share the truth with you about the candidate Donald J. Trump. He has the ability to reach within himself and within our country and Make America Great Again.

I am an educated woman and I am voting for Donald Trump for President of the United States of America. I hope you will too.

A New Year, A New Perspective

1/4/2015

Much has changed since I wrote at Thanksgiving.
Policemen have been shot.  Riots have been held when suspects/criminals have been shot.

World peace has not occurred (my secret Christmas wish each year is now out in the open).

Holidays, religious and secular, have passed.  People still confuse the meanings and origins of various holidays and celebrate some in error.

Apologies if I sound pessimistic.  That isn't my goal.  I'm just looking at our country and global community with wide open eyes.  Call me realistic.

In our own country, the two major parties are doing a dance now that the axis of power appears to have shifted.  I keep hoping, yes praying, that they will start working TOGETHER for the betterment of the American citizen and not for people how come into our country illegally, seeking handouts, mooching off the working public.  I hope, yes pray, they will work TOGETHER for the betterment of the working American citizen, the truly disabled, those who give a damn about our American pride, our rights, our freedoms.  I pray, those who are here illegally will be shown the doorway and escorted OUT, that those who are here legally but mooch off everyone else are given initiative to EARN their keep, pay their taxes and be productive citizens of whom we can all be proud.

I'm praying a lot these days:  for better health for those with health issues, for those who need employment (not just at staving wages), for those who need a living wage (the current minimum wage level is CRAP), for those who need homes, for those who serve and have served our country that they no longer wait for days/weeks/months for appointments, for those who are hungry that they may be fed by each of us, and that those who bluff at these listed needs be called out and taught not to embarrass themselves, our country, and not disgrace those of whom they mimic.

I pray for our children, that they be educated to have open minds, to accept that many viewpoints, beliefs, and facts exist, that they can look at all of those and see who they intertwine, rather than being prejudiced against religion or science.  Those subjects, beliefs, and facts actually do intertwine and the wise person looks for the links, rather than pointing out that only one may be right.  If we want to "coexist," then we must practice what we preach.

I pray that when there is evil, when there are unbalanced individuals with a moral center that is a true detriment to the existence of man and womankind, that we see it for what it is.  Rampant killing serves no one.  Rampant rape and abuse of children serves no one.  Rampant tendencies to annihilate others based on their absence of the same philosophy serves no one.  When one group strives to kill off the rest of us because of our color or because we do participate in their 'religion,' then they are a detriment to the existence of mankind and womankind, and yes, our children.  Our people, of the globe, not just our country, MUST stand up to the infiltration of our countries -- we MUST fight back against those who strive to kill us off if we do not change our countries, our beliefs, our ways of life.  We MUST be complacent no longer.  We MUST inform our leaders it is time to protect independence, to protect our children, to protect our futures, to protect our existence!

I pray for each of you who takes time to read my words, whether I write infrequently, whether I ramble, or whether I'm up for heated debate.  I thank each of you.  I pray for you and your well-being in this new year.  I pray you are refreshed, following the holidays you celebrated.  We had an awesome Christmas with one section of our family.  We rang in the new year quietly and then met up with family to visit and reminisce.  All good things.  We celebrated our faith in Christ, our love for our fellow men and women, and gave thanks for those who defend us.

I encourage you to eat healthy, to exercise (as your age, body, and doctor permit), to pray, to love, to live.

May God bless each of you, May God bless our world and ever living creature on it, May God bless those who strive to eliminate us, May God bless us everyone.

Holidays - Equality - Children

Happy HalloThankHanuKwanChristmas!  Well, that's what commercialism has done to the 4th quarter holiday season.  Autumn arrives in late September and here come Christmas Carols, Halloween decorations on sale at 50% off as soon as they hit the store shelves and somewhere in the middle you find things like Halloween, Hanukkah, Kwanza, Veterans Day and others thrown in.
Thank you, thank you retail industry.  Is it the retail industry.....or is it more??
I shall spare each of you my definitions of the holidays, they are subject to interpretation anyway.  If you're Jewish, you'll prefer Hanukkah.  If you're Christian you may be pro-Christmas and anti-Halloween.  If you're a citizen of the USA, you'll relish over-eating, parades, and football games on Thanksgiving Day.  If you're of African-American descent, you will cherish your heritage at the celebration of Kwanzaa.  If you're a veteran in the USA, Veterans Day will be held near and dear to your heart.
Guess what?  I bet I just missed a bunch of other holidays and someone out there will call me on it.  We all do the best we can to celebrate our heritage, our religious faith, our communities, and having fun for the sake of having fun.
Sometimes we get very outspoken against something we do not understand.  Just because we don't understand someone other people's reason for joy is no reason to be mean and verbally or physically attack them.
That said; however, when people pervert their faith and use it for evil/generally bad purposes, then we have the right to call them out on it and put a stop to it.
I read an article recently in which reference was made to atheists and satanists promoting practices to children and asking a school board to approve of materials for distribution.  If you don't want religion in the schools, then you must not permit anti-religion either.  It has to be equal both ways.  If for example, you don't allow the Bible and Christianity in school materials, then Islam cannot be taught either.  If you won't allow religion, you can't have anti-religion (e.g. atheism) in the school
If you believe in good, you must believe in evil.
If you believe in God, you must believe in the devil.
If you believe in heaven, you must believe in hell.
Every action incurs and equal and opposite reaction.
Look at our schools today.  They are a jumbled mess.  Took Christianity out but put pure evolution in.  They do not permit the discussion of the beliefs of Christianity even though Christianity exists.  They do not permit prayer.  All of a sudden lately, though, there is a huge push to permit the teaching of Islamic beliefs, atheistic beliefs, and even satanic beliefs.  If you're going to teach one, you must teach them all, equally.
And we wonder why our youth are confused, depressed, angry, and getting into trouble.  WE are confusing them by our very lack to teach them with fare and true content.  WE are allowing our government-influenced educators and school boards to be bullied further and further into teaching our children a bunch of confused and partial belief systems.
(Don't even get me started on the Common Core system that is completely degrading mathematics among other courses.)
How have we gone from celebrating each holiday for its own worth and respecting others' celebrations to demoralizing our children with conflicting belief systems?  Do we blame the greed of the retail industry?  Do we blame teachers or school boards?  Do we blame various religious and anti-religious groups?  Do we blame ourselves?  Do we blame our own faith?  Do we blame each other?  Do we blame the leaders of our country?
Something to consider:  we elect our leaders (either by voting or failing to vote and allowing bad leaders into power), we elect our school boards who hire the teachers of our young people.  We choose where to attend church, if we attend church.  We allow bullying of our educational system and our young people on the largest scale possible and yet we do nothing about it.
We see parents run to the schools and complain if Suzi Q or John Doe get insulted and we complain bitterly because the school didn't protect our child.  BUT GUESS WHAT FOLKS??  Life is mean.  Life is not easy.  If it were pleasant and easy all the time, we'd most likely be in heaven (for those who believe it exists.
I'm not saying not to stand up for your children when there is a serious problem, which can include bullying.  We do need to teach our children to stand up for themselves too.
We are setting the poorest of examples in this country in the current era.  We allow small sub-groups to bully our educational system instead of standing up and saying this isn't good stuff/good curriculum.  Do not misunderstand me, I am all for adding new and good things.  I have no problem teaching all about all religions and anti-religions, let's be equal.  Equal is the component.  Give our children and grandchildren an equal balance of knowledge so they don't continue growing up confused, needing more and more chemical medications pumped into them to help them cope with the lack of mental tools we failed to provide them.
Back to the holidays......enjoy each one.  Play, celebrate, pray, and savor.  Enjoy each one in its own time, not in one jumbled mess.
From my faith to yours, may you be blessed.
