President Biden, sworn into office in January.
President Trump, impeached and acquitted for the 2nd time before mid-February.
Violence in DC at the chambers of the legislature on January 6, evidence showed pre-planning.
President Biden says he took office with no vaccine in place.  Vaccine was first released December 14, 2020.
President Biden signing more executive orders in his first months in office than several presidents put together.
Gasoline prices at the pumps are increasing.
Keystone pipeline shutdown due to President Biden's executive order.
Borders opening up due to President Biden's executive order.
American citizens remain homeless.
The National Guard remains in Washington DC over a month after the inauguration, but why?
Travelers required to have a negative Covid test prior to entering USA, but we're opening up borders.
Some are pushing to change the 2nd Amendment.
Social media sites dropping accounts of various people, some famous, mostly conservative.
Social media sites censoring content that contradicts the accepted beliefs of the liberal media, whether factual or not.
"Fact-checkers" censoring items with which they do not agree.
Social media platforms losing hosts (e.g. Parler kicked off Amazon, but has since found a new host).
Huge push to vaccinate millions of people, a push that was started under the previous (45th) presidential administration.
Republicans in some states censuring, re-evaluating their state elected representatives who voted to convict 45th president.
Americans want to go back to work.
Americans want to go on social outings.
Americans want good food to eat.
Americans want decent housing.
Americans want decent healthcare.
Americans want clothes to wear.
Americans want to live like the rich and famous, without always putting in the work to be the rich and famous.
Americans don't always realize that someone, somewhere, sometime, worked hard for the money that the rich and famous have, even if the current generation inherited it.
Texans are without heat and electricity in the midst of a severe winter storm, and some blame it on the oil and gas industry.  What about frozen windmills and snow/ice-covered solar panels?
We need to work toward greener renewable energy, but it must be viable in all weathers, all climates, and be prepared for weather anomalies.
We must keep the public healthy.  How about promoting good diets, less preservatives, and organics, rather than modifying foods and adding chemicals?
We must provide decent healthcare for everyone.  How about reining in the insurance industry profits and price-gouging of pharmaceutical companies?
We must provide housing, shelter.  What about converting now-closed down factories into some pretty cool trendy apartments for those in need?
We need clothes to wear.  How about we quit mass-producing some of the ugly things that are on the market and put that money into feeding our homeless?  Sorry folks, some of the stuff that is out there in stores, is just ugly, I don't care to which generation you belong!
We must provide food.  How about we go about taking good care of crops the way we used to?  Genetically modified foods are not what our bodies are designed to digest.  (e.g. I never had a wheat/gluten problem until wheat was genetically modified.)  Why don't we work to feed our people healthy food instead of chemicals?!  Genetically modified crops do not have the insanely high-yields they were supposed to, when first promoted.  Let's eliminate corporate farms that don't look at animals as animals, but rather just as numbers and lines on their profit margins.  We need to farm responsibly, healthy, and yes, medicate animals when they are sick.  (Those that are sick and given medication have to be monitored before they can be released to produce milk etc as is.)
Americans need jobs.  Too many states have closed small businesses while catering to big-box stores under the guise of monitoring numbers.  Americans who are used to working need and want to support their families need jobs, they do not want more unemployment compensation.  They want gainful employment that allows them to feel accomplished.
Americans want to go on social outings.  Humans are social creatures and imprisoning us in our own homes makes us cranky and does nothing to build up our own immunity to any viruses.  We need to interact with other human beings.  Our children need to play with other children.  And, our overworked essential workers need a break.  Their primary interaction is with the sick or those picking up essential store items.  What about our essential workers?  They need vacations even more than the rest of us.
I cannot address the entire human population across the globe, but I can tell you that if we continue, we will slowly die off, kill off humanity by hiding from the problems of the world, be it viruses or other social-political crises.
Our state governors, under the Trump administration didn't want the federal government controlling how their states handled the global pandemic.  Now that it is the Biden administration, there is noise in the media for the feds to do their part and take control.  Somehow they blame former President Trump.  That's just silly.  He allowed the governors to 'govern' their states.  Some did well, others did not.  Pennsylvania, New York, and California are three examples of states in which the governors botched things.  Just do some internet searches and you'll find their gaffes that have brutally affected their populations.
Now, the feds want to control everything again.  Totalitarianism is not the way to go, folks.  We need to be free people, whose elected officials actually remember they represent the citizens who elected them, not wherein they think they are smarter and elected to lead us down ridiculous paths of disaster.  (I actually heard one elected official on the television discuss how it was his/their job(s) to lead the people, as if we are all stupid.  I think he forgot who elected him.  His job is to represent the will of those who elected him.)
As for the election last November, I am weary of people saying it was fully legitimate, especially when four years ago those same people whined that that election couldn't have been legitimate.  If they truly believe the 2020 election was without mishap, then let each of them send me $100 cash in the mail to my address.  Will they trust the postal mail that far?  If they truly believe 2020 was a perfect election, then they must agree that President Trump and his administration did things exactly right and ran the agencies better than President Obama's administration did in 2016.  Do see where this goes?
You can't have it both ways, folks.  Either both elections were spot on, or they both could have had issues.
If you want to push the thought that 2020 was a perfect election, then you must agree that the agencies, governed by the outgoing administration (45th) had things in better order than occurred in 2016.  It's comical.  It's sad.  It's pathetic. Either 2016 and 2020 elections were both perfect, or both were flawed.  You can't flip-flop when it suits your agenda.
We need term limits for our legislators.  Even for the ones we like.  If our presidents have term limits, so should our legislators.  It's that simple.
Those who preach unity need to practice unity.
Those who preach peace must exhibit peace.
Those who throw stones must learn forgiveness.
American citizens need sanity, jobs, social interaction, freedom of speech, freedom to bear arms, freedom to live, freedom to vote with legal identification (like driving a car or buying alcohol), to maintain our country.
Those who seek asylum in our country, need to have the protections afforded them of any victim, but they need to go through due process like those before them and with the intent of becoming productive citizens.  Those who send children through dangerous travel zones alone should be reprimanded.  Those who come here to have anchor babies should be reprimanded.
Our country cannot afford to give millions upon millions of us free rides.  Someone somewhere pays for handout benefits.  Those who are working and paying for the benefits through taxes, will wear out, collapse, and give up, and quit at some point.  At that point, we will all wish we'd worked harder together, because, by then, no one will take care of any of us.  And, we will starve, be homeless, and lack simple amenities in our lives.  And we'll be glad of rags to wear and not worry about the ugly clothes in the big-box stores of the past.
Go ahead, preach peace.
Live it.  Be it.
but Do Not preach it and exhibit the opposite.
Some of us know the difference.  Some of us think for ourselves.  Some are not turning a blind eye.
As time passes, more will see the truth when they are hungry, losing homes, losing jobs, and being left in the dirt.
We are a country for all people to be equal.  Being equal means we all carry the load.  Right now, there are those who want the 'peasant' and middle-class folks to carry the load for those who want the free ride, who feel 'entitled' to special privileges and exemptions.
My fellow American CITIZENS, we need to work, to do our jobs, and to expect others to do the same.  We must hold accountable those we elect.  If they are not representing us, we must vote them out of office, vote to recall them from office, impeach and convict them if necessary.  Those who seek to do harm to our country, must not be permitted to hold office whether they win legitimately or through ill-gotten votes.  We must follow legal channels and vote them out, recall them, and remove them from office.  We must not break our own laws, for that destroys who we are as Americans.  We must hold ourselves to our own laws and show the world that we are who our founders knew we could be.  We must follow due course and stand up for our country, through all legal and proper channels.
We must not bury our heads in the sand, but face the music.  We have allowed these travesties to occur.  We have allowed our minds to be convinced we must live in fear of a virus, when we and our medical community have tools at hand to fight many viruses.  We must not live in fear, but rather fight, fight the virus, fight intimidation of communities and those who seek to serve.  We must stand up for the oppressed and those who truly seek asylum from persecution.  We must stand up for our own farmers, our local business people, and our very selves.  We must stand up for the right of every legal citizen to vote.
We, as American citizens, must stand together, not in unity, but as Americans.

Vote, Please.

Vote today. Please.
Vote your conscience, not what mass media and your neighbors tell you.
Vote with your intellect, not with what skewed polls and tricksters might have you believe.
Vote with a love of the United States of America in your heart, not a hatred of a neighbor who believes differently than you.
Vote with integrity, not with what you think the status quo mandates.
Vote with love for your God, your family, your neighbors, your country, not with any contempt in your heart.
Vote. Please. Today, and in every election as each one matters and your vote makes a difference.
Vote.
Please.
Thank you.

On a very personal note, I have my preferred candidate for whom I will vote for President of the United States of America.  I have preferred candidates for federal senators/congressmen, state senators/congressmen, local officials.  I have witnessed their actions in the past, I have listened to what they promise, I have seen the results good and bad of all those competing for their respective positions.  I will vote for those who deliver results, not those who berate their competition and who have spent decades as professional politicians without results.  I will vote for those who actually get things done.
In my view, if you have spent 40+ years as a professional politician and haven't corrected the problems for which you blame the other candidate, you need a new job and to bow out of the race.

Donald Trump

Donald Trump.

For some his name evokes shudders of disdain. They are afraid of this man, a man who is not a career politician, a man who cannot be bought, a man who will not play the 'old boy's club' of games. They are afraid he will bring back Capitalism, destroying their long-term vision of Progressivism moving into Socialism into Dictatorship. They are afraid that decades of planning will fall apart if this man who believes in freedom is elected President of the United States.

For others, their eyes light up at the mere mention of his last name. If their ears could perk up like a puppy dog's ears, they would do that too. These folks have been longing for someone to save their dying country, a beloved country for which men and women fought, bled, and died. A country wherein people are guaranteed the right to worship as they please, are guaranteed the right to bear arms without restriction, are guaranteed the right to vote and marry regardless of race or religion. They love this country with every breath they take. They love the people in this country. They support those who fight for America and democracy at home and abroad. They believe in strong care for our veterans, senior citizens, and disabled. These people believe in the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Donald Trump understands the burning desire of the second group described above. Together with these people, he understands that we are granted the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Note, we are not guaranteed happiness, but rather the pursuit thereof. Donald Trump may have many many more dollars than both the people who follow and who disrespect him, but he has something massively in common with his supporters: he has WORKED to be where he is – he has worked for his fame and fortune. Surely each and every one of us has made mistakes in our lives, be they financial, relationship, or material. Guess what? So has Mr. Trump – and he has learned from those mistakes and kept moving forward, one foot in front of the other.

Mr. Trump believes in the American people, the American worker, the American family (and I'm not going to play semantics here – the American family has morphed many times over the years), American patriotism, the American military & veterans, and the future for all American children. One merely needs to listen to him in person (not a chopped up clip on the news or internet), his entire sentences, discussions, and speeches over the years to know his core person and his love for this country have not wavered. His views have not shifted in dramatic ways. He has held steady to his beliefs.

If you have the internet, I encourage you to visit Mr. Trump's website and read his actual positions on topics such as childcare, education, foreign policy, tax plan, veterans affairs reform, the economy, and more. You can find them at this link https://www.donaldjtrump.com/policies/ . Listen in earnest with an open mind to Mr. Trump's ideas, please don't listen to falsehoods promoted by those who are afraid to embrace the challenge of pursuing happiness. I have heard him speak in person and witnessed the media change his words from what I heard to some other meaning.

Now, I would 'love' to share history of the other candidate for President of the United States; however, at this time, you know in your heart the truth about the other candidate. My goal is simple: share the truth with you about the candidate Donald J. Trump. He has the ability to reach within himself and within our country and Make America Great Again.

I am an educated woman and I am voting for Donald Trump for President of the United States of America. I hope you will too.

In the News...

Spring Greetings, Readers!
Believe it or not, I have emerged from my seeming hibernated state.  Winter was long and harsh in my neck of the woods, some having called it 'a good old-fashioned winter.'  I love snow; however, even I grew weary of the continuing frigid temperatures and ongoing icing problems.
I digress.
Spring is here and with it a wee bit of snow on the daffodils.  Warming temperatures and sunshine are putting smiles back on the people I see in stores, at work, in passing, and on myself!  Hopefully you are cheering up and ready to move forward with 2015.
In the news.  So many things have been happening.  This list is the short list:
  • Presidential candidates for 2016 are emerging.
  • ISIS/ISIL is continuing to behead, slaughter, rape, and perform other horrific acts on Christians and anyone who doesn't behave and believe as its members do.
  • California is running out of water.
  • A much beloved world-class Olympic Champion has 'come out' by announcing he is transitioning into the woman he has always felt he was inside.
  • Allegedly, one Democratic Presidential candidate has been involved in some inappropriate behavior and is being called to testify regarding missing emails, and much more.
  • The USA finally has a new Attorney General.
  • A volcano erupted in Chile, many many evacuated.
  • An earthquake occurred today in Nepal and the death toll continues to rise.
  • Britain and the world await news of a new royal baby.  (I'm sure Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge are the most anxious to have the little one arrive.)
  • Soldiers are dying everyday.  Veterans are dying everyday.  Veterans are committing suicide at an alarming rate.
  • Volunteer organizations of all types need volunteers.
What is YOUR news?  Do you make fun of stories and people in the news?  Do you scoff at political candidates, yet do not become politically active yourself?  Do you volunteer in any way?  What do you do to make your own newsworthy stories, even if shared with just family and friends?
Get out there and do something, American citizens!!  Volunteer, speak out, and VOTE!!

Racism

7/29/2014

Definition of RACISM  per Merriam-Webster Dictionary online
 1 : a belief that race
is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and
that racial differences produce an inherent  superiority of a particular race
2 : racial prejudice
or discrimination
Racism.  Is it subjective or relative?  How do you define it?  What makes a definition correct and something that everyone can agree upon?  Do you agree with the above-cited definitions regarding racism?
I have been accused lately of being racist.  Am I?
I was told my recent posts on Facebook demonstrate my racism and show that it is coming out.
What do you think?  Please, visit my Facebook page, Kind Readers, and let me know if you think I am a racist?  Here is the link:

Rita Preston's Views
I'm wondering if the accuser meant that I was racially prejudiced instead of racist.  I do not believe one race is superior to another anymore than I believe that men are smarter than women, that blondes are dumber than folks with other hair colors, that brown-eyed folks are warmer than green-eyed folks, that college degrees make someone smarter than someone who has only a high school diploma, that little green men typify life on Mars, that if the sky is blue today it can never be grey with thunder clouds, that 2+2=5, or that the United States of America exists in the southern hemisphere on planet Earth.
I don't care what your eye color is;  I don't care what your skin color is;  I don't care what your education is.
I want a human being to act like a practical human being with common sense.  I want that same human being to be capable of doing the job for which he/she has been hired.  If that person is incapable and it was not discovered prior to hiring, then find a replacement and steer the unqualified person to the right position for him/her.
If preachers (here I refer to men and women of the cloth, those who preach a religion, etc.) want to preach the love of God and unity of mankind then they need to do that and live that.  Lately there are some prominent ministers spreading division in our country based on the color of the skin of someone who has committed acts such as manslaughter and murder.  It seems they make a gigantic public spectacle if a black person (for lack of a term which will suit every reader out there) has been harmed by someone of another ethnicity.  In the same venue, these preachers fall quiet when a black person (again, my apologies, I am not labeling; I am pointing out the pictures shown in the media) commits similar crimes against persons of non-black ethnic backgrounds.
I have been sharing this distinction and have been called to account for it as though I am being racist and promoting division.  I was further taken to account for having mentioned our illustrious POUSA as falling into the same category as a couple of those famous preachers.  True, he is not a minister of the Christian faith, to my knowledge (nor of any other religion of which I've been told); however, he is a leader of many people by having been elected POUSA.  By holding that rank, one must hold one's self up rather than further divide people -- was he not originally elected for hope and change........to bring unity?  I see more division in this country today than prior to his election.  Why is that?
I know, I (a small country community numbers person with a passion for God, Country, Family, and many other things, including writing) do not wish for division, nor do I wish for utopia.  I wish for common sense, equal rights, equal application of the laws, and equal representation in our media.  All of these items are lacking greatly these days.
Journalism and news reporting should follow their natural course.  If one wishes to editorialize, start your own editorial column or blog.   Editorializing, spouting one's own opinion, spewing forth drama from various political camps as diversions to actual news are bordering on fraudulent journalism.
My blog clearly states that these are my thoughts, my opinions, and my views.  I do my best to write on topics of current importance, based on news articles I have read, or little snippets of fodder I see along the internet.  Usually, not always.  Some of them make for great debate, some for serious argument, and some, I hope, for serious contemplation.
To be called racist when I describe someone based on his/her skin tone or any other physical feature and in the same conversation wherein I demand equal justice, equal representation, equal time or any other frame of equality is simply ironic.  If we are going to attempt to be that "politically correct" in this country, we have already lost our individuality along with our equality.   (I shall save the discussion of how inhumane and politically incorrect political correctness actually is for another day.)

If you want equality, it has to be equality across the board, you can't pick and choose when to be equal and when not to be equal.  When you dictate your equality, you border on some being more equal than others and that my friends rings reminiscent of communism and/or socialism.  Either we are equal or we are not.  Our Constitution says we are equal.  Don't call me names or label me when I am pointing out inequalities.
I am not racist because I do not like someone who plays at being in charge and can't see his ideas to fruition because he cannot 'work and play well with others.'  If he cannot fulfill the duties of the job, he shouldn't have the job.  If one cannot glean the cooperation of others, there is usually a reason.  Sadly, some may not like the color of his skin, some may not like the look in his eyes, or the way he wears his neckties, but for any POUSA, he needs to be able to work and play well with others if he wants his plans and dreams for his country to be put into a good course of action.

At the present time, I do not work in any job position or volunteer position which puts me into a work relationship with the POUSA so I am not affecting his ability to do his job in the slightest.  I have been labeled a racist because I don't care for him and the way he's been doing his job.  As I have stated previously, I don't care if he's purple as long as he can do the job.
Am I prejudiced?  Nope.  If you are straight up with me as a human being, I will be straight up with you.  If you are human and pretend to be a sheep, now we might have a problem.  If you are a sheep and pretend to be human, again, we might have a problem (most likely in communication).  Be who you are, give a damn about my country if you're going to lead it.  If you're going to lead my country, then lead, don't play back door games, stand up and be accountable when things go wrong below you.  A company is only as good as its leadership; same for the country.  If you cannot step up to the plate when it counts (e.g. an embassy under attack and Americans killed on your watch), then you should not have taken the job.
No one leaves the Oval Office a younger person; every single one of them has shown much aging by the time he has left office.  It is no easy job if given half the time it deserves and requires.
Am I prejudiced against our currently seated president?  In one way:  he is not doing well at the job; he is hindering and hurting our economy and morale in my opinion.  No, I'm not citing statistics here, I am basing this opinion on the everyday life I see in America:  families and individuals struggling to make ends meet, to hold on to their homes if they haven't lost them already, businesses cutting corners to stay afloat, automobile prices that equal the prices of small houses (auto manufacturers should be ashamed of their pricing; after all,  they got bailout money so they can stay afloat), rising costs of living that are climbing faster and faster while wages are stagnant, a sequester in place but lavish parties still thrown at the White House, a president who takes his vacations even though there is a sequester, a congress and senate that don't give up summer recess to set a good example and families who have not been able to afford vacations in many years, even a government shutdown because the powers-that-be don't work and play well together.
Am I prejudiced against our congressmen and senators?  In one way:  they aren't doing their jobs well either.  (See paragraph immediately prior to this one.)
Am I racist?  NO!!
Am I prejudiced?  Maybe.  What am I prejudiced against?  Leaders of government, pastors/ministers/religious leaders who fall far short of their calling and fail the people they've chosen to lead, some even acting racist against the people they were elected to lead.
Interesting article poking fun at liberals by conservatives:  http://youngcons.com/the-7-things-liberals-actually-mean-when-they-call-somebody-racist/  Is it poking fun or does it lend credibility to how many in our country are behaving?
Are YOU racist?  Are YOU prejudiced?  If so, in what way or ways?
